Corporate Espionage Investigation Services

The United States has laws to protect companies from corporate spying, but laws are seldom enough to prevent determined criminals and other bad actors. While the 1996 Economic Espionage Act was designed to prevent companies and other foreign entities from spying on U.S. firms to steal intellectual property and other trade secrets, reports suggest that corporate spycraft continues to be a major problem for many companies. To protect your company’s secrets and economic viability, you can rely on the proven professionals at International Security Services, Inc. (ISS) to provide the effective corporate espionage investigation services you need.

To Protect Your Business, Rely on the Proven Experts

With corporate spying on the rise across the globe, your company needs a partner with proven experience in business counterintelligence activities. At International Security Services, Inc. (ISS), we have the proven track record of success that you need and are fully committed to helping you protect your invaluable company trade secrets. Don’t wait until your rivals use your own intellectual property against you.

What Is Corporate Espionage?

Many companies assume that they are immune to economic espionage and trust their internal processes to protect valuable trade secrets. The reality, however, is that foreign governments and business entities are increasingly targeting sensitive business data. Those competitors often seek your business secrets – including valuable intellectual property – to eliminate your competitive edge and obtain an unfair advantage.

This type of espionage shares many similarities to traditional spycraft. Adversaries can use a variety of means to obtain your trade secrets, including:

  • Taking advantage of untrained personnel, who may not realize the damage they are doing when they unwittingly reveal confidential information
  • Exploiting technical vulnerabilities in your computer systems to steal sensitive data
  • Using electronic eavesdropping technology to spy on your business or its executives
  • Gaining access to improperly managed physical documents
  • Physically gathering evidence at your work site

Why You Need Corporate Spying Counterintelligence Services

Recent reports suggest that intellectual property theft by foreign rivals costs American businesses hundreds of billions of dollars each year – and those estimates are just based on reported theft. Many companies lack the tools and experience needed to identify such thefts and may not even realize that their trade secrets have been compromised. And make no mistake: these thefts have real impact on your business. They allow your business rivals to use your innovation investment against you, making your company less competitive in the long-run.

At ISS, our counterintelligence experts can provide your company’s team with invaluable training that will provide them with the tools needed to better protect your corporate secrets. We will also conduct extensive reviews of your firm’s internal information protection processes, as well as other areas of security concern. Our team of experts will also conduct comprehensive espionage investigations where necessary, to help you identify breaches and gather the evidence you need to act against any offenders.

Frequently Asked Questions

Contact International Security Services, Inc. today to learn more about our general investigations, business investigations, overseas investigations, and background check services.

Who uses private investigation services?

Many people and companies have questions that only an investigation can answer. For example, you may wonder whether a spouse is being unfaithful, desire to learn more about your adoption, or want to run a background check prior to marriage. Businesses often need help investigating potential fraud, screening employees, or conducting due diligence before mergers, acquisitions, or overseas expansions. International Security Services, Inc. can help with those and other investigation needs.

Why can’t I just investigate on my own?

Obviously, you could try to investigate just about anything on your own. However, there’s a reason why people and companies choose private investigators to get the answers they need. Proper investigations take time, resources, and skill sets that most laypeople lack. In addition, many people are unfamiliar with legal issues related to surveillance and other investigative concerns and can thus easily run afoul of the law during any do-it-yourself investigation.

Why should I choose ISS?

ISS investigators have the expertise and experience you need to get the answers you deserve. Our investigators are all licensed professionals with skills sets that include intelligence gathering and counterintelligence measures, and they’re backed by state-of-the-art investigative tools and techniques.

Can you help me with overseas investigations?

We can. At ISS, we are fluent in both English and Russian, and familiar with the Russian community. As a result, we can provide quality investigative services in both the U.S. and the nations that were once part of the Soviet Union.

What should I know about my investigators?

You should only consider investigators who are properly licensed, bonded, and insured, and who have a proven track record of success. ISS investigators meet and surpass those expectations, which is why our team can offer the most effective investigation services in New York City and abroad.

Should I be concerned about discretion?

When you hire ISS investigators, discretion is a priority. We conduct covert investigations to ensure that subjects remain unaware that they are being surveilled or otherwise investigated. New York statutes require that investigators only release your information if you request it or a court orders such information to be divulged. Otherwise, information that we share with one another is considered confidential. That includes information that you provide during any consultation, even if you decide not to hire ISS.

Are there limitations and things you can’t investigate or do?

Of course. For example, private investigators are not allowed to surreptitiously obtain credit report information without written consent or record conversations without at least one party’s knowledge. We do not harass targets, violate local, state, or federal law, or otherwise conduct ourselves in any way that might be considered immoral or unethical. We can, however, use every legal tool at our disposal to ensure that you get the answers you need.

Property Security Evaluation Report

Your Individualized Property Evaluation Report

Your site’s individualized property evaluation report contains information and analysis that you need to properly manage your site’s security needs. That information includes detailed analysis of the crime rate in your area, site access and parking protocols, and existing security infrastructure. Interior inspection includes analysis of emergency exits, fire suppression capabilities, and alarm infrastructure for emergencies. Exterior inspection includes analysis of structural defects, property lighting, and potential vulnerabilities in building access.

In addition to those inspections, our analysis also considered environmental factors, potential risks from older trees, outside property maintenance, and nearby crime that may overflow to the area. We also examined emergency response planning, including fire evacuation protocols and information supplied to residents about proper evacuation process.

Pressing Suggestions

We highly suggest a camera placement along this driveway, as the overhead cameras in the back parking lot may not capture all makes, models, and license plates of cars entering in and out based on the angle they are recording from. The best camera placement would be at the green circle closest to the sidewalk/street.
The common area is easily accessible, but based on the angle that cameras are set at the front lot, anyone can enter the basement common area concealing the side of their face that is facing the camera. This is not to say that the camera arrangement should be changed, but it is highly recommended to have coverage in this common area as the common area is on a lower floor not visible from the sidewalk.

However, a few fundamental problems exist when it comes to access control of the back parking (a big territory). Even though only two issues have ever occurred there, the wide-open access point to that lot may need to be corrected sooner than later as there is a significant uptick in crime in the 62nd precinct.

Furthermore, there are two fundamental surveillance blind spots along the driveway leading to the back parking lot and every common area.

Lastly, however unlikely it may seem, tenants should have resources and a physical guide for situations that may require an evacuation. Whether it be a flood or fire, each tenant should know how to use a fire extinguisher and where to evacuate to during a flood regardless of their proximity to a shoreline.
