47 Hour Armed Guard Training Course – In-Person Class Registration

Designed to equip candidates with legal knowledge and practical firearm skills for armed roles. Specific documentation and gear are required.

• Valid NYC pistol permit required
• Must bring the weapon you will shoot with (must be listed on your NYC permit)
• We prefer a 9mm magazine-fed weapon (no revolvers or other calibers)
• Required gear: Ear and eye protection, over-the-waistband holster, tactical/duty belt, magazine holders (min. two wells), speedloaders, and a duty-type flashlight

Classroom instruction focuses on legal authority, use of force under NY Penal Law Article 35, and armed guard responsibilities to ensure lawful and justified security operations.

Forty hours of practical live-fire firearm instruction and qualification on the shooting range, building weapon handling, accuracy, and range discipline under expert supervision.

Training emphasizes responsible armed security conduct, situational awareness, duty expectations, and professional decision-making in real-world scenarios.

Successful completion results in a DCJS-approved training certificate required to apply for an armed security guard registration card with the NYS Division of Licensing Services.
